Munichstein, 22 January 2025 - Primeo Energy has achieved good results in the latest benchmarking of energy supply companies conducted by EnergieSchweiz and the Federal Office of Energy on renewable energies and energy efficiency. In the heating sector, Primeo Energy is among the top ten energy supply companies (EVU) examined.
The comparative study by EnergieSchweiz and the Federal Office of Energy (BfE) examines the performance of companies that supply their customers with electricity, heat and gas in terms of renewable energies and energy efficiency. 111 energy supply companies from across Switzerland, including Primeo Energie, took part in the latest energy supply company benchmarking.
Primeo Energie among the top ten
In the heat segment, Primeo Energie is among the top ten of the energy supply companies analysed. The company achieved 86 per cent of the targets set in the benchmarking. Projects such as the expansion of district heating networks and the use of local waste heat sources, such as the new Birstal heating network, played a particularly important role in the evaluation. In the electricity segment, Primeo Energie achieved an above-average position and reached a value of 73 per cent. Projects such as battery storage and innovative tests on bidirectional charging were highlighted. In the area of gas supply, the first steps have been taken towards renewable gases, for example by investing in the biogas plant in Pratteln. The transformation towards climate-neutral solutions remains a clear strategic goal here. When considering only the large energy supply companies, Primeo Energie is among the top ten in all three areas.
The assessment is based on around 20 criteria in the fields of corporate strategy, smart grids/energy systems, exemplary behaviour, production of renewable energies, water protection (electricity only), supply from renewable energies, energy services and funding programmes, as well as tariff measures. The study, which has been conducted since 2014, is intended to motivate energy supply companies to step up their activities in the fields of renewables and energy efficiency.
Energy transition as part of the corporate strategy
At Primeo Energie, the topics of renewable energies, decarbonisation and energy efficiency are among the most important strategic goals. (You can find our sustainability report here). The company sees itself as a driver of the energy transition and supports the federal government's Energy Strategy 2050. Through its subsidiary aventron, Primeo Energie is involved in the production of renewable energies in six European countries. All of its basic supply electricity comes from renewable sources. And with the Primeo Energie Cosmos science and experience centre, Primeo Energie is also introducing children and young people to the topics of climate protection, energy efficiency and renewable energies.
